The process of coming up with a domain name took some thought process considering "technical support" and the synonyms of that domain name were long gone. Sure, I could've settled on a .ORG or a .ME but I really wanted a .COM. That's when I went into old school hacker terminology. I remembered back in the 90's that hackers used the term "l33t" as a word for "elite." Borrowed from Urban dictionary:
1337 Hacker "Sp33k" for leet, or elite. Originating from 31337 "eleet", the UDP port used by Dead Cow Cult, a hacker group, to access Windows 95 using Back Orifice, a notorious hacking program.
After more Google queries, I realized that the numbers 1337 were more popular a term for "elite" than the letter number combination or any other combo for that matter. Of course 1337.com was taken long ago but a Godaddy.com suggestion struck my fancy - 1337LIVE. It was short, sweet and easy to remember thus a domain was born. |
